Mission Trip Day 2

It was a long day today. We started off with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. I am very thankful Cambodian food has similar tasting notes to Chinese food.

We rode in the van for one hour to get to the Home of Grace orphanage. On the way, there were temples painted in gold, the king’s palace, markets with hanging meat and tropical fruits, herds of skinny white cattle, and much more. We saw the very rich and the very poor.

We attended the worship service at the orphanage. A group of ten children led us in songs of praise, including the song Give Thanks in English. I was surprised by the projection of their voices in their little bodies.

I shared my testimony and led them in the song Abide with Clarence on the guitar. Garrett preached about the meaning of Jesus’ birth on earth.

Then we went to Bati church for another worship service. Clarence shared his testimony, then we led them to sing Amazing Grace. Garrett preached on the scripture Psalm 46. God is our refuge and He will never forsake us. Neri concluded the service with a call to receive Christ. A total of 21 people stood up and came to the front to profess their new faith! We prayed over them and rejoiced. After that, we organized the people to sit on the ground in rows and handed out a hot lunch, which was a piece of roasted chicken, half of a marinated boiled egg, rice and a small bag of vegetables. We also handed out bread. After they ate, the villagers went back to their respective villages.

We returned to the orphanage and played volleyball, basketball, and jump rope until it was time to retire for the day. Tomorrow, we will visit the Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Prison.
