Mission Trip Day 3

Today we visited the Killing fields of Cambodia as well as the Tuol Sleng Prison. Prisoners were interrogated, tortured and killed at these locations. This was done out of ignorance, fear, evil, and under the influence of the Khmer Rouge who wanted to create a classless system. They targeted intellectuals and anyone they suspected as the enemy. A fourth of the population was wiped out and the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng are only two out of hundreds of these execution sites.

At the Home of Grace we taught the kids some English. Garrett and Rusty taught the little ones, Vienna the middle aged kids and Clarence taught the older kids from age 12-16. They learned simple phrases and vocabulary like how to introduce themselves, their favorite colour and sports they like to play.

It has been eye opening to see what the people of Cambodia have experienced. They have experienced so much destruction and pain; 40 years later the effects still linger. But we have also seen the hope in the present. God is working in Cambodia. Henry and Neri are an unstoppable force, filled with the Spirit. We are thankful and humbled by our small role we get to play in saving the unreached and in building up the next generation of kids.
